The EDGE Board approved DHL Supply Chain (USA) for a six-year Jobs PILOT for 42 net new jobs with an average wage of $46,411. DHL Supply Chain will invest $4,846,642 for a new third-party-logistics services operation and warehouse in Memphis.
Currently, DHL Supply Chain provides more than 2,600 jobs in the City of Memphis. DHL Supply Chain serves as the world’s largest contract logistics specialist, creating a competitive advantage through customized logistics solutions based on globally standardized warehousing, transportation, and integrated service. A wholly owned entity of Deutsche Post DHL, this international company retains revenues of more than $81 billion with approximately 550,000 employees in over 220 countries worldwide.
The total project investment includes $3 million to complete buildout of the facility, $1.8 million for furniture, fixtures, and equipment, and a commitment to spending $1.1 million with MWBEs. This new facility on 6401 East Shelby Drive is located on 19 acres of land valued at $535,100 and contains a 234,000 square foot partially constructed shell warehouse valued at $18.6 million. DHL Supply Chain will occupy 100% of the building. Real property improvements and new personal property will receive the PILOT benefit.
Jobs in the facility range from $16 an hour for the most entry-level position to $36 an hour for supervisory positions to $56 an hour for management positions. The average wage for the project is more than $22 an hour.
