In 2021, ATEC Spine, Inc. made a strategic decision to grow its operations in Memphis – a move supported through a 10-year Fast Track PILOT from EDGE. This incentive enabled the medical device company to build out its new space in the Bluff City, create 95 new jobs with an average wage of $52,657, and invest $3.5 million in the project.
Recently, the EDGE team sent a thank-you plaque to ATEC, recognizing their investment in our community and celebrating the company’s role in fueling Memphis’ success.
Founded in 1990, ATEC Spine is a leader in developing products and treatments for spine disorders, specializing in spinal implants, biologics, and fixation devices. With more than $140 million in annual revenue and a team of over 300, it has been steadily expanding its production capabilities. When it came time to establish a new distribution and repair operation, Memphis stood out for its central location, world-class logistics infrastructure, and access to a skilled workforce in medical device repair and distribution.
The company’s Memphis facility occupies a 75,000-square-foot flex warehouse on a 4.4-acre site, giving them the space and connectivity to serve patients and providers across the country. Through the PILOT agreement, ATEC will continue paying local property taxes – projected to generate $4.6 million in local tax revenues during the PILOT term and an estimated $74,164 annually afterward.
By selecting Memphis over other contenders, the company is contributing to our city’s medical device sector, supporting high-wage job creation, and strengthening the region as a hub for advanced manufacturing and healthcare innovation.
